The secular podcast "Startup" recently said that "[church planters] might have the most difficult task of any founder in America: Convincing people who don’t know -- or even believe in -- God to change their minds and join his church." Ain't that the truth!
Church planting is the new, cool thing in the Christian ministry world. But most people don't know how much sweat, anguish, doubt and difficulty the average church planter faces. Those stories almost never get told on conference platforms. But we know the struggle firsthand; we've been on the grind for the last three years.
New Church Hustle exists to help lead people from a vague notion that "God might have called me to start a church" to "We are leading a thriving, multiplying church," without skipping all the steps in between. It features a balanced focus on men's and women's perspectives regarding new church work, and the stories of "nobodies" who are quietly doing something truly amazing in their cities.
Our approach is predicated on a "launch large" attractional strategy. But we think there's something helpful here even for the reformed, missional-community planter.
Each Thursday, you can expect to hear practical advice. Horror stories. Miracles and mistakes. Because in the end, none of us are really sure what we are doing - we just know it's important.
So we keep an open mind and learn from anyone with a pulse.
We collaborate rather than compete.
We give our lives for the sake of God's kingdom.
Because time is short, the afterlife is real, and we have a burning desire to make a difference.
